FAIRY TALES IN YOGHOURT (Indie Rock/Nantes)

Nantes' Benoît Guchet's solo career is a fairly radical representation of the "control freak" phenomenon. With a mountain temporality, he produces every 2000 years a record for which he will have meticulously assumed the essential roles, artistic as well as technical, and put all his friends out of work. In parallel with other less solitary projects (Bantam Lyons, Yes Basketball, Classe Mannequin), he produces with Fairy Tales in Yoghourt a folk drawn from all sides, as much towards the rawest minimalism as towards experiments on form and most noisy rock. The whole forms pop songs whose main common points are always impeccable melodies, a quietly virtuoso guitar and songwriting, and a fragile and high-pitched voice going for Neil Young or Robert Smith; drawing introspection, lost loves and more or less effective remedies. In these big gaps, we also meet Nick Drake, Steve Reich, Tom Jobim, Andy Shauf, Deerhoof, and a lot of strangers. His debut album was released in late 2022 on Pale Figure Records.
